Overview
The Druk Path Trek is also a moderately easy trek to undertake as the distances between campsites are fairly short. It is a great trekking option for amateur trekkers wishing to experience trekking in green and happy Bhutan. The trek starts from the Paro valley and ends in Thimphu city. The last night camp site is conveniently close to ancient monasteries which date back to the 13th century. The 6-day trek will take the trekkers through scenic natural landscapes, pristine highland lakes, forests of blue pine and dwarf rhododendrons, and uncompromised view of Mount Gangkar Puensum and many other great mountain peaks. The best times to embark on the Druk Path Trek are between March-June and September-November.

Arrive at Paro
After landing at Paro International Airport you will be welcomed by our representatives; your guide and driver for the rest of your trip. After welcoming you into the country, you will be driven to your hotel to settle down and get refreshed. After which you will be taken for sightseeing around Paro. You will visit some of the popular attractions like: Paro Rinpung Dzong, Paro National Museum and Paro Kyichu Lhakhang.

Today the trekkers will hike to Tiger’s nest monastery. The reason for this is to get acclimatized to the high altitude for the main trek. Tiger’s nest or Paro Taktsang monastery is one of the most visited sites by tourists from all over the world and is considered a must visit attraction in the country. The monastery is perched at around 900 meters above Paro valley is quite an arduous uphill hike which will prepare the trekkers from the main adventure.

The Druk Path Trek will kick off from Paro with a 5 hour hike to Jele Dzong. On a clear weather day, the trekkers will be able to enjoy an amazing view of Mount Jomolhari as the trekkers ascend. You will camp at 3480 m above sea level.

Trekkers will have breakfast at the campsite and resume trekking through dense forests of alpine. This region is famous for yak herders and so the trekkers might meet a few along the way. You might stop for a quick exchange of greetings and resume trekking. You will camp at 3770 meters.

Today, you will trek to Jimilang Tsho Lake which is 11 hours from the campsite. You will camp near the Lake at an elevation of 3870 meters above sea level.

After breakfast at the campsite, you will resume trekking towards Simkota Lake. You will come across yet another yak herder’s camp. You may choose to catch a breath and interact with the herders. Your camp will be at an elevation of 4110 meters.

Today you will descend down to Phajoding. On your way to Phajoding you will be able to enjoy an undisturbed view of the highest mountain in Bhutan; Gangkhar Puensum if the weather permits. At Phajoding you will spend exploring the 13th century monasteries and temples. You will camp near the monastery while enjoying the view of Thimphu valley.

Finally you will descend to Thimphu. The trail is mostly downhill through dense forest of Blue pine. It will take around 3 to 4 hours to get to the base of the monastery at Sangay gang. Upon reaching the base, you will be picked up by your driver and driven to your hotel. You can choose to unwind the day and the long tiring trek by enjoying a relaxing session at the spa.

Today, you will be taken around Thimphu to visit popular attractions in Thimphu. You visit some of the most popular attractions in Thimphu like the 17th century fortress Tashichho Dzong, the largest sitting Buddha statue(Buddha Dordenma), the Takin zoo, and a number of museums around Thimphu.
